We are looking to hire a Logistics and Warehouse Manager located in Amherst, NY.

 

This is a high-level overview of the role we need you to fill for us:

This position is responsible for managing a team and overseeing processes related to onsite and off-site warehousing, and logistics operations.  Ideal candidate will have experience providing leadership in materials management with focus on improving distribution center order processing, inventory accuracy, and utilizing tools to ensure products are located at multiple warehouse locations to ensure on-time deliveries throughout North America.  Ideal candidate will also have experience providing people leadership including training and development of team, performance management, team strategy and regular and effective communication.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Supervise the activities of receiving, storage, shipping, and logistics to ensure accurate order fulfillment, optimized fleet/network management, inventory control, superior customer service and efficient facility utilization. Included in these activities are inventory control, warehousing, transportation, logistics planning, order processing and customer service.
  • Manage relationships and processes with third party warehouse and freight management partners.
  • Assist team in improving inventory accuracy through process control and leading cycle count program.
  • Work with Purchasing colleagues to ensure proper procurement and distribution of the inventory.
  • Modify and monitor layout of warehouse to improve flow and efficiency; determine inventory movement and storage equipment necessary to support inventory layout.
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement of the delivery and material handling processes; discover and implement new technology geared towards modernization and efficiency; take immediate action to eliminate significant risk and to propose actions to eliminate non-conformance or deviations.
  • Implement all warehouse safety programs and procedures and execute all internal quality control procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including direct labor duties as required.

 

These skills and experiences will make you a good fit for this role:

  • A minimum of 8 years of warehouse/logistics experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in inventory control, performing cycle counting, material and stock handling, shipping and receiving, industry safety protocols, and governmental compliance.
  • Demonstrated performance in resource planning, creating work schedules, completing performance evaluations, and preparing reports for management.
  • Must be able to lift and manage material of up to 50 pounds unassisted; walk or stand for long periods of time; wear all required PPE.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and working knowledge of SAP software considered a plus.
  • IMDG and IATA shipping certifications are preferred, or candidates must be able to be certified within 6 months.
  • Lean six sigma (green belt minimum) certification preferred.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
