We are looking to hire a Master Fitter located in Amherst, NY.

 

This is a high-level overview of the role we need you to fill for us:

This position is responsible for assisting Welder/Fitters, Forepersons, and Manufacturing Supervision staff as directed in the manufacture and assembly of metallic products supplied to the construction industry. Specifically, this position is responsible for the final assembly and welding of structural steel members used in expansion control systems to AWS standards. Attention to safety and quality is essential to this position, as well as teamwork and collaboration with Production Plant Operators, Safety, Engineering, and Quality Control.

 

These skills and experiences will make you a good fit for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required, additional course work with emphasis on welding preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years’ welding experience in an industrial fabrication shop is required. Ten (10) or more years’ experience in welding and assembly of expansion joint systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings and other written instructions.
  • Ability to operate all welding equipment including Robotic Welding cell and sub-merged arc welding equipment as well as portable plasma burning machine and hand burning torches.
  • Operate all fabrication equipment such as saws, stud welders, ironworkers, benders, drill presses, punches, shot blaster, and a variety of portable hand tools.
  • Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, tow motors, and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as necessary, including overtime when required.
  • Must be able to lift and manage material of up to 50 pounds unassisted; walk or stand for long periods of time; bend, stoop, or kneel if required; wear all required PPE.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including Safe Work Permits, training requirements, and use of safety equipment.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
