We are looking to hire a Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to support our Brighton, Colorado manufacturing facility.

 

High-level overview of the role and responsibilities

This position requires a hands-on approach in support of the site. Key responsibilities will include some of the following:

Environmental Management:

Responsibilities will include the understanding, administration, execution, and maintenance of Federal EPA and CDPHE permit and regulatory requirements for Air, Stormwater, SPCC, UST’s, Waste Management, EPCRA 312 and 313. Responsibilities may include air emissions tracking, stormwater discharge monitoring report sampling and submission, SPCC inspections, hazardous waste satellite accumulation areas inspections and disposal coordination, hazardous waste biennial reporting, EPCRA reporting, and other responsibilities. Experience with ISO 14001 a plus, but not required. Other responsibilities as needed.

Safety and Industrial Hygiene:

Responsibilities include safety training for new hires and site employees covering topics such as the control of hazardous energy (lockout/tagout), respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response Plan, etc. Knowledgeable with OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI regulations and best practices. Experience with writing/revising EHS site specific plans and procedures. Responsible for conducting safety assessments/inspections of production areas to ensure adherence to site safety policies. Responsible for the administration of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the site and proper selection. Experience with leading and handling OSHA complaints, citations, or audits. Experience with applying OSHA PELS or ACGIH TLVs for chemical and noise exposures. Experience with incident management and leading accident/incident investigations.

Process Safety and Risk Management Plan

Experience with OSHA Process Safety Program (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program requirements. Familiarity with OSHA PSM program elements such as Management of Change. Responsible for the maintaining and updating the facility Risk Management Plan, to include coordinating training requirements for site personnel.

The role is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate solid planning skills to define schedules/priorities for multiple assignments under limited supervision and persuade others when interacting with peers, customers, and management. 

 

These skills and experiences will make you a good fit for this role

  • B.S. Occupational health, safety, environmental science, engineering, or a comparable scientific discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in a direct manufacturing support role is strongly desired.  An understanding of chemical processing and technologies is preferred
  • 2 years of regulatory and technical expertise (Occupational as well as Process Safety) is strongly desired
  • 2 years of technical and regulatory expertise to occupational and process safety compliance at the site as part of a zero-incident mindset
  • 5 years EHS Program Management experienceincluding but not limited to Control of Hazardous Energy – Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, and Emergency Planning and Response.
  • Leadership capabilities as a memeber of Site Leadership Team to drive EHS programs and culture
  • Data interpretation and communication (monitoring reports and control recommendation), and regulatory compliance relating to occupational health and safety.
  • Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed and support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties on compliance and enforcement issues as needed
